Schedule for Mailing Out Invitations

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

When to mail out Wedding Invitations is a question that I am asked quite often.

Normally, the invitations are mailed out six weeks before the wedding, but if you have guests that are coming from out of town and who need to make vacation and travel arrangements, you should send them out eight weeks before the wedding.

Of course, sending a ‘Save-The-Date’ announcement will allow the out-of-town travelers the possibility of receiving lower airfares and better hotel rates when arranging their travel for your wedding.  Save-The-Date announcements should be sent out six months to a year in advance of the wedding

Favor Ideas

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Wondering what type of favors to give out at your wedding?  Instead of the traditional favors (box of mints, etc.) why not think outside of the box.  A great idea is to gear your favors toward your occupation, favorite sport, hobby, etc.  For example, if you are an Accountant, your favor could be a mini-calculator (personalized with the Bride & Groom’s name and wedding date on it), or maybe your hobby is baking, your favor could be tiny cookie cutters.  Is your wedding scheduled around a Holiday, such as Halloween (favor could be a Trick or Treat bag - make sure to put candy in the bag) or if around Christmas time, your favor could be a Personalized Ornament.

What ever your favor will be, make sure to include a personalized favor cards, which can be worded to coordinate with the favor.  If in need of personalized favor cards, Sizemore Selectives can provide you with them.

Invitation Tissue Paper

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Ever wonder why your wedding invitation orders came with Tissue Paper?  The answer your question is as follows:  The type of printing presses used when printing invitations would leave the ink wet on the invitation, therefore, when assembling your invitation assemble, the tissue paper would be placed between the cards to prevent smearing.  With the new technology of today, this problem has been eliminated and the Tissue Paper is no longer necessary.  Most invitations no longer come with the Tissue Paper, but it is still available if you want to follow tradition.
